Pastor Lara Akin-Taiwo is the founder of Heritage Missions International, a ministry committed to spreading the gospel with compassion. Heritage Missions is deeply involved in seeking and connecting men and women to their God given purpose. Main events conducted by Heritage Missions include weekly Prayers, monthly meetings and yearly Campmeetings as well as various conferences throughout each year as led by the Holy Spirit.
Heritage Missions is also involved in charitable activities for families in poverty especially children and mothers. Pastor Lara encountered Jesus at a Youth Corp Camp in August 1987. She received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit in her room after returning from a Holy Ghost filled service in September of same year.
Once she gave her life to Christ, she became actively involved in ministry. She participated in organizing and conducting more than 5 crusades and preached her first sermon within the same month at a small Church in Eruwa Oyo State.
Upon her return from the one year Youth Corp Service, she joined the Redeemed Evangelical Mission in Lagos where she immediately put her hands on the plough as a Foundation class and Ministry in Training teacher. She served in various capacities which included Secretary Ministry in Training Teachers. House fellowship leader, Committee Head Singles Fellowship, Executive Secretary Young Women Christian Fellowship, Executive Secretary and event coordinator for Female Pastors and Pastor’s wives Fellowship and Committee member International Women’s conference.
Lara’s zeal and commitment to the things of God is palpable. Upon sensing the call of God she proceeded to God’s Army Bible Training Center where she got her Diploma in Theology in 1993. She was also a student of the Morris Cerullo School of Ministry.
Pastor Lara co-pioneered and Pastored 3 churches in Nigeria before coming to the US. As a result of her versatility in the word and practical ministry she was sought after by many Ministries as a speaker and as a collaborator. She was a member of the Communion of Bible Faith Ministers founded by Bishop David Oyedepo. She was also appointed Coordinator Female Pastors and women in Ministry Fellowship under the auspices of Bishop and Rev Mrs Osa-Oni.
Upon arrival in the US Lara became a member of Faithlandmark Ministeries Richmond Va and served in the Nursing home and Xtreme Life departments. In 2006 she founded a church at Richmond Va. She was inducted into the Board of Elders by Morris Cerullo World Evangelism.
In 2010, she moved to the State of Maryland where she organized monthly and annual meetings and conferences; while she also sat on the Pastorate at RCCG’s Victory Temple Bowie, MD.
Currently, she is the Senior Pastor Heritage Missions International located at Landover, Maryland. Lara is an author of 3 books and an International speaker at various churches and conferences
